Appena uscito Lightroom 4, molti utilizzatori si sono lamentati delle inferiori performance della nuova versione rispetto a Lightroom 3. Effettivamente il programma risulta leggermente più pesante, anche se dopo i vari aggiornamenti (in questo momento è disponibile la versione 4.3) molti problemi sono stati risolti.
Bisogna però considerare che i programmi vengono scritti e sviluppati pensando sempre agli ultimi componenti hardware disponibili, e chiaramente chi usava LR3 con soddisfazione con un “vecchio” processore Intel Dual Core e 2GB di Ram – tanto per fare un esempio – difficilmente rimarrà soddisfatto delle prestazioni di Lightroom 4.
Non è obbligatorio passare all’ultima versione del programma, ma se si decide di farlo bisogna anche tenere in considerazione la workstation sulla quale si intenderà installarlo.
Qualche settimana fa ho pubblicato un post con una proposta per assemblare un PC di fascia medio-alta adatto all’editing fotografico e ai lavori di grafica.
Le prestazioni di Lightroom sono legate sia alle risorse hardware a disposizione che al modo in cui vengono effettivamente utilizzate. Ovviamente più è “veloce” il computer sul quale è installato, più veloce saranno le risposte di Lightroom alle nostre richieste.

The historic “Muay Thai at the Mecca” proved to be the biggest sanctioned Muay Thai event ever in United States history and already “Muay Thai at the Mecca 2” is building up to surpass the celebrated event. “Muay Thai at the Mecca 2” will feature UFC veteran Ryan “The Lion” Madigan alongside undefeated Take On heavyweight slugger, Brian Collette who will collide with WBC Champ Steven Banks and undefeated Take On middleweight champion, Nick Vaughan will face Phil LeGrand, who may be his toughest opponent yet.

Tarek Rached (26-3, AFC Kickboxing/NY) with over 100 amateur fights, this Ronkonkoma, NY native has won World Championships in WAKO, WKA, and WPKA.
Eddie Maritnez (20-8) has recently won a world title at the Arab Boxing World Championship in Dubai with a seventh-round knockout of Russia’s Illman Arskahanov.. He holds the TaKe On record for most Knockouts via headkick!

Orial Kolaj non picchia solo duro, ma è un pugile che sa soffrire, sa incassare, sa restare in piedi anche nelle situazioni più avverse. Il pugile albanese è uno che non molla, un vero picchiatore, e il duro allenamento in palestra degli ultimi mesi ha dato i suoi frutti sul ring.
Davanti al pubblico romano del Palazzetto dello Sport di viale Tiziano Orial Kolaj vince per KO alla sesta ripresa e conserva la sua cintura in un match che poteva andare in una direzione ben diversa visto il calibro di Adamek. La boxe dell’albanese è decisamente migliorata dai primi match cosi come anche la sua condizione atletica, che gli permette di sprecare molto mettendo tanti colpi e mantenendo sempre mobile il tronco. Grande soddisfazione quindi per il giovane Orial, per il suo team e per il manager Davide Buccioni, che vede confermate tutte le aspettative sul pugile albanese e può con fiducia guardare a nuovi, ambiziosi obiettivi futuri.
Ad animare la serata anche gli artisti del Circo Nero, una compagnia di artisti dal sapore noir che tra un match e l’altro hanno intrattenuto il pubblico nell’attesa di match di Orial Kolaj con colorate coreografie.

Non sono un Geek nè un maniaco dei computer, ma avendo delle competenze specifiche nel settore e avendo speso del tempo per aggiornarmi sull’hardware attualmente in circolazione, metto a disposizione qualche informazione sulle scelte che ho fatto con l’obiettivo di trovare una configurazione accettabile per l’editing fotografico (Lightroom, Photoshop) e sul lavoro di grafica in generale (Photoshop, Illustrator).
Alimentatore e scheda video restano in servizio dal computer precedente (MB Asus P5B socket LGA 775, CPU Intel Core 2 Duo 8400, 4GB RAM 800MHz), così come due hard disk Western Digital Caviar Green da 640 GB SATA 3.
Solo una soluzione tra tante, a titolo di esempio, elaborata dopo una settimana di ricerche e approfondimenti, magari utile a qualcuno che in questo momento ha la mia stessa esigenza di rinnovare il proprio computer.

Perchè l’ho scelta: Mi fido di Asus e ha un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. E’ una motherboard di fascia media molto performante sulla quale iniziare a costruire il proprio computer. Ha 6 porte USB 3.0, un modulo Wi-Fi, il controller RAID e tante altre caratteristiche tecniche interessanti.

PROCESSORE: Intel Core i7-3770 8MB 3.4Ghz 1155 Ivy Bridge con GPU 77W BOX
Perchè l’ho scelto: Sul processore ho fatto una scelta precisa: potevo risparmiare – e anche molto – affidandomi a una CPU con prestazioni comunque discrete e spendendo quasi la metà (scegliendo un Intel I5 3450 per esempio, prezzo 180 euro), ma considerando la differenza di prestazioni e l’investimento per un periodo relativamente lungo (con l’ultimo PC da me assemblato ho lavorato 4 anni) ho preferito spendere 100 euro in più e godere per i prossimi anni di una velocità di calcolo (sulla renderizzazione dei file RAW o delle anteprime per esempio) maggiore.

Sulla memoria RAM c’è poco da dire. Basta assicurarsi che sia compatibile con la scheda madre e che sfrutti appieno le sue potenzialità. Quanta ne serve? Con il vecchio PC 4GB erano quasi sempre sufficienti…ma le applicazioni nuove sono sempre più esigenti, e considerando il costo non proibitivo mi sono tenuto largo. Per essere sicuri della piena compatibilità del sistema che state assemblando andate a controllare direttamente la scheda tecnica sul sito della Motherboard che avete scelto. Se il componente compare nell’elenco dei QVL (qualified vendor list) andate sul sicuro.

CASE: Corsair Carbide Series 400R
Promette di essere silenzioso e robusto. Ha tre ventole da 120mm incluse (con la possibilità di montarne altre 10 da 120/140mm), 6 alloggiamenti (senza viti) per Hard Disk o Solid State Disk (SSD), due porte USB3 e una Firewire sul pannello anteriore. Credo di aver fatto una buona scelta sempre considerando il fattore qualità/prezzo.

Aggiornamento: ho appena appreso (qui un articolo molto interessante e completo al riguardo) che la GPU Intel HD4000 integrata nel nuovo Ivy Bridge è più performante della mia vecchia scheda video ATI…che quindi può considerarsi esclusa dalla nuova configurazione.
